Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization(SEO) is a process of editing and organizing Web site content so it ranks as high as possible in search engine results, such as those provided by Google.

SEO takes care of itself. Ironically, the best technology for improving SEO isn’t a technology at all, but to develop websites that people want to go to.

This is not to say that developers shouldn’t implement good meta tags (information that includes who created a page and how often it’s updated, etc.) and alt tags (the small text box that describes what an image contains), but that’s standard practice these days. Google publishes a set of guidelines that explain, in broad terms, how they rank Google Ad Words. These guidelines are excellent suggestions for creating good websites in general.

Sight Marketing’s practice starts with a list of words and terms that our clients believe are important to their business. Then we run a set of reports that reveal how much competition they have for those words or terms. Based on the results from this report, we begin to build content for the website. This is not to say that we only use terms that score favorably for the client. Writing content this way often leads to strange and very contrived content. The SEO results are simply used as a guide for writing content.

More important, if there are terms that are really necessary for our client’s website search ranking, we help them create content that is useful to the people they want to talk to. That content needs to be original. And it works best if the content is updated from time to time – the more the better. These tactics are especially useful if clients want to purchase Ad Words because these are part of Google’s website quality score.

None of this guarantees a high natural search ranking or Ad Word ranking, but it does make the site more relevant and useful to people and will serve our clients and their business the best.
